Ho’oponopono in a nutshell

Ho’oponopono is an ancient Hawaiian practise, based on forgiveness and on taking responsibility for what’s on your world.

We already know by the Law of Attraction that we manifest (attract) everything that is in our life, the good and the bad. Some of this we have unconsciously manifested through old patterns, memories and beliefs. Ho’oponopono helps us clean the memories that created the beliefs and patterns, therefore helping us move forward with our life with less conditioning.

How does Ho’oponopono help us erase these memories? It is very simple, it does so through the repetition of 4 phrases: I’m Sorry, Please forgive me, Thank you, I love you.

Dr. Hew Len explains that every time you repeat these phrases it’s like pressing the Delete button in your computer: a memory that created your present situation is deleted. You don’t need to think about which memories you want deleted because that is for the Divinity (or the Universe, whichever you prefer) to choose, and the Divinity knows best about what is causing us difficulty. So simply repeat over and over again these phrases and trust that the healing is occurring.

One of the wonderful characteristic of this practise is that you don’t need to be sitting in silence, you don’t need to clear up time for it (you can if you want, but you don’t need to) you don’t need to go to a temple for it to work. It can be practised while walking down the street towards the supermarket, on the bus home or while taking a shower. Just repeat: I’m Sorry, Please forgive me, Thank you, I love you.

Repeat them like a mantra, over and over. They work great as a way to calm the mind before a stressful event like sitting an exam or giving a presentation. Those times in which the mind seems to go on and on about something and you can’t cut the flow, simply replace the “noise” with these 4 phrases. They work wonders 🙂

What is the meaning of the phrases? What is at work?

I’M SORRY – Repentance

According to Ho’oponopono we are responsible for everything that’s present in our life, and that includes all the negative/toxic things. Therefore, you apologise to yourself and the Universe, because you know a part of you brought this into your life.

PLEASE FORGIVE ME – Asking for Forgiveness

Don’t worry about who you’re asking. Just ask! PLEASE FORGIVE ME. Dr. Hew Len, one of the most well-known ho’oponopono practitioners says: “You don’t say “Forgive me” because the Divine needs to forgive you. You say it because you need to hear it”.

 THANK YOU – Gratitude

You thank yourself because you know that by repeating these phrases you are cleaning the memories that caused this situation or problem. You are also expressing gratitude because whatever is in your life is there to teach you.

 I LOVE YOU – Love

This phrase opens our hearts to the healing energy of Love. We express our love to ourselves, to the Universe, to all humanity. We love ourselves, our flaws and mistakes, because we are always doing the best we can.

Say them over and over. Mean it. Feel it. There is nothing as powerful as Love, Forgiveness and Gratitude

Monday Meditation: Meditating with Ho’oponopono

Monday Meditation003

The Hawaiian practice of Ho’oponopono is based in taking 100% responsibility for everything around us. We are responsible for everything we see and experience; we have created 100% of it through our thoughts and memories.

To heal our reality, Ho’oponopono says, me must erase the memories that gave life to the thoughts that, in turn, created our world. Sometimes they are memories from our childhood, sometimes we inherited them from a previous generation, in both cases they can be removed so that we can create new thoughts. How do we do this? There are different ways, one of them is by repeating 4 simple phrases:

I’m sorry.

Please forgive me.

Thank you.

I love you.

Another way is by drinking Blue Solar Water.

Here is a gentle meditation that uses Ho’oponopono to relax and sooth the mind:

Additional information on Ho’oponopono can be found in the book “Zero Limits” written by Joe Vitale and Dr. Hew Len or in “The Easiest way” written by Mabel Kats, who studied Ho’oponopono under Dr. Len for many years.
